EP-SIM is an online platform that provides users with access to an electric market simulation engines via the web. This type of service allows users to run simulations and analyze the electricity market behavior without the need for specialized software installation or purchasing different licenses for optimization and visualization licenses.

EP-SIM web services typically provide a user-friendly interface that allows users to input parameters and constraints for the simulation, such as electricity demand and available generation capacity. The service then uses mathematical algorithms, optimization methods, and machine-learning approaches to simulate the operation of the market and generates results and analysis for the user. The outputs include but not limited to, generation breakdown for different technologies, annual capacity factors, market clearing price, and etc. EP-SIM services are investigating the current status of electricity markets and the outlook for electricity markets by proliferation of renewables.

EP-SIM web service is particularly useful for energy sector organizations and electricity market role-players who may not have access to specialized software or the resources to run complex simulations on their own. Analysis Platform for the Impact of Distributed Generators on Grids

EP-DIG is a web service for analyzing the impact of solar-based distributed generations on the operation of distribution systems.  EP-DIG acquires the GIS-data of the distribution feeders along with associated loading profile and offers feeder-based studies two in two folds:

First is investigation of the impact of installing a new solar generation-based power plant on the distribution system. The user-friendly interface of EP-DIG allows users to select the connection point and define the installed capacity of the solar generation-based power plant. As the output, EP-DIG offers the users plenty of executive and in-detail outputs that show the impact of installing a new solar generation-based power plant on the distribution system operation parameters such as technical loss and voltage profile of the feeder. In addition, EP-DIG comes up with the optimal placement of solar generation-based power plant. EP-DIG employes optimization algorithms and data analysis techniques to help determine the best locations for installing solar panels to generate maximum energy output. These web services typically uses as solar radiation intensity, and feeder topography, to simulate and analyze the performance of solar energy systems in various locations. The goal of EP-DIG is to help distribution system operators to make informed decisions about the installation of solar panels, reduce energy costs and technical losses, and improve voltage profile of their system.

The second service provided by EP-DIG is optimal harvesting of reactive power support from solar generation-based power plants. Although it is not mandatory yet, but in near future and by proliferation of renewables, feeder-scale solar generation-based power plants would contribute in ancillary service market and commit for reactive power support. By EP-DIG and associated user-friend interface in place, the distribution system operator can select the desired power plants for day-ahead optimal reactive power support contribution and acquire the hourly dispatch for each individual solar generation-based power plant. EP-DIG optimizes the reactive power support considering the capability curves of the power plants and with the objective of total loss minimization.

EP-GIS is a platform that enables automatic conversion of Geographical Information System (GIS) data to DigSilent PowerFactory model.

  • Updated GIS model ready to use in the analyses with DigSilent PowerFactory.
