Decarbonization Pathways for Turkiye 2020–2050 – Modelling Study

The study has two specific objectives: 1) Identification of long-term decarbonization pathways compatible with the Paris Agreement (under the constraints of net-zero and absolute zero emissions by 2050/70) for the Turkish economy in terms of GHG emissions and energy mix, with a particular focus on the power sector 2) Preparation of alternative fossil fuel phase-out pathways (for coal/gas in energy supply and power generation, for internal combustion engines etc.) and the resulting technological patterns and cost impacts on the power sector in Turkiye. The outcomes of this study will be used in a policy report that will be prepared by IPC at Sabancı University. The outcomes of the study may also be used in the policy report as an appendix.
